Ash makes “knots”, he gives
these “knots” to individuals who agree to personalise
the “not” and return it to the artist who places
the piece into the collective work known as “not in
a box”
if we had 10,000 “nots” no two
would be the same- just like people- all different yet the
same!”
A protest at the nonsense of labels and
categories when used in relation to people? Is it a protest?
An experience? A demonstration? We see ourselves and others
in different ways – we portray ourselves differently.
Each “not” is unique and yet it is the same
in as much as it is a “not in a box”
